How to remove carbon from objects?

Do carbon deposits cause you headaches in your industry or hobby? And the result of your work is not perfect due to that? Do you spend a lot of valuable time on manual removal?

We set ourselves the task of checking how quickly and efficiently we can remove carbon from desired objects. With the help of an ultrasonic cleaner and a suitable cleaning concentrate this job becomes even easier.

Basics

First, a little about the basics of ultrasonic cleaning. You can read more about ultrasonic cleaning in our previous blog posts, for example: *How it works*.

Ultrasonic cleaners work on the principle of ultrasonic waves passing through the liquid. Most models of ultrasonic cleaners have transducers attached to the bottom of the tank that emit ultrasonic waves. These waves spread through the liquid in the tank. With the help of energy from these micro bubbles, which hit the object and implode, the impurities on the objects are removed.

In the implementation itself, it is good to keep in mind that the waves come from the bottom of the tank and therefore their power in this direction is the greatest as well as the cleaning effect. Ultrasonic power, frequency, fluid temperature, cleaning concentrate and cleaning time also contribute to the removal of impurities.

Removing carbon

Now back to our case. Firstly we sprayed the items with diluted AS-MLP cleaning concentrate, which is a strong degreaser and started the dirt decomposition. During this time, we prepared an ultrasonic cleaner PRO 300 – 28 kHz and heated the liquid to 40 °C. Adding 2% of AS-MLP cleaning concentrate was to water. Due to its chemical formulation, this cleaning concentrate accelerates the removal of impurities from the surface of objects. We left the cleaner running for two cycles without objects inside, as we wanted the temperature and cleaning concentrate to be evenly distributed throughout the tank. At the same time we removed any excess air bubbles that would spoil the cleaning process. You can make this process even faster with our Degas models PRO S.

Process and finish

In our testing, we opted for two 30 minute cycles at 40-50 ° C. After completing the cycles, the items were rinsed with running water and dried.

If you are not satisfied with the result, you can manually “rub” the object during the cycles. This way you accelerate the removing of carbon, or continue with an additional cycle or two in the ultrasonic cleaner.
